Performance Report
Prior to trialling Pro-Ma DT5 Plus Diesel Treatment during the 1998 season, the diesel fuel usage of my harvester averaged approximately eight hours operation per tank (550 litres) of fuel.
I was told that during the initial period after commencing using the Fuel Treatment, fuel usage would increase as the product cleaned the fuel system and burnt out the carbon deposits on the pistons and cylinder head and generally conditioned the engine. The fuel consumption would then improve, the engine would run more smoothly and generally perform better.
While I was skeptical that it would work and provide a cost saving, I used the Pro-Ma DT5 Plus during the last month of the 1997 season and found the fuel usage had improved by season end sufficiently enough for me to decide to use it for the full 1998 season. During the 1998 season, fuel consumption without DT5 Plus was 68.75 litres per hour, ('96 and '97 seasons) and with DT5 Plus, it was 61.11 litres per hour (1988 season an improvement of 7.64 Litres per hour or 11.11%
Fuel consumption based on the 1,460 engine hours operation during the 1998 season without using DT5 Plus would have been approximately 100,375 litres at an average eight hours operation per tank, a saving of 11,115 litres. At a cost averaged at $0-60 per litre before the diesel fuel rebate, the saving was $6,693, less the cost of PT5 giving a nett saving of $5,735.40.
I also found the fuel filters lasted much longer and provided a considerable saving both in maintenance time and the replacement cost of filters.
I will continue to use Pro-Ma DT5 Plus in my harvester and haul out trucks and equipment in the future, and recommend its use in all harvesters and farm equipment.
